The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby

Today I’m feeling like the cat’s pajamas, wearing my French Sole Carla Heels in white and black leather with a silver deco trim. The reason for me to be looking so hotsy totsy, is that I’m hitting the town tonight, attending my very first Great […]

The Velvet Luxury

With the luxury of time on my hands before the start of Paris Fashion Week, I elected to take a stroll on the streets of the French capital with my pair of beautiful French Sole Hefner slippers. Rather than pursue my usual well-worn routes, I […]

Celestial Board Walkers

Celestial Board Walkers

Upon my return to London, I was reminded that it’s not easy to find somewhere among the bright lights of the big city from which you can spend a little time with the moon and the stars and to be able to dream a little […]

A Walk on the Wild Side

A Walk on the Wild Side

Romantic as I am, occasionally I like to take a walk on the wild side. And what better way to do that than with a pair of leopard print flats from French Sole’s signature collection, the purrfect choice for my latest adventure, an exploration of the urban […]

Another Italian Adventure

Another Italian Adventure

French Sole Sandals

French Sole Sandals

French Sole Ballet Flats

French Sole Ballet Flats

A mere glimpse of French Sole Henrietta ballet flats will echo in me words such as Plie, Balancé, Coupé and Pas de bourrée. These are terms, that fill me equally with joy as much as with fear, for they form the core of my youth […]

The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby

Today I’m feeling like the cat’s pajamas, wearing my French Sole Carla Heels in white and black leather with a silver deco trim. The reason for me to be looking so hotsy totsy, is that I’m hitting the town tonight, attending my very first Great Gatsby party. So, it’s time to add to those 1920s slang terms for ‘looking good’ with a few other pretty darn handy phrases so that I don’t come across as a sounding like a load of phonus balonus!

I adore the roaring twenties style, the jazz age, the flappers with their bobbed hair and short dresses. Above the knee, no less! For the first time, women looked like they were having so much fun, as they must have felt so free in contrast to the stiff Edwardian decade that they’d just left. Think Titanic and you’ll understand what I mean. It wasn’t all plain sailing, however, as F. Scott Fitzgerald sought to point out the pitfalls of excess when he wrote The Great Gatsby. Oh, Fitzy! Everything turned out just jake for us ladies and my French Sole Carla Heels don’t see it your way, they just want to dance the Charleston, the cake walk or the flee hop and get a little zozzled!

So, moving on faster than you can say shimmer, shimmer! I aim to dazzle in my sequined silver flapper dress, a long strand necklace of pearls around my neck and though my hair isn’t short, I’ll mimic the look with a curled and pinned chignon. But the real bees knees, the icing on the cake, will be my French Sole Carla Heels, they’ll be the showstoppers. I can’t imagine a better shoe to go with what I’ll be wearing and I won’t be a boat beating against the current, as the last line of the book reads, I’ll be free to do as I please.

I’m very curious how other French Sole fans are styling their French Sole Carla Heels! Do mention #frenchsoleblogbyamelie on your Instagram and I’ll be reposting the most creative looks on our FS page.

With love,

Amélie Florentine
